MPWiK publishes daily treated-water quality results (codzienne wyniki badań). This table is a curated English summary of typical plant-outlet bands — not live daily readings. For today’s numbers, use the official MPWiK page.
Warsaw municipal supply meets Polish and EU drinking-water rules (Rozporządzenie MZ 2017 poz. 2294). Parameters here show why water is safe to drinkwhile still tasting of chlorine or building scale on fittings.
Quality parameters by plant
| Plant / zone | Microbiology | Turbidity | pH | Free chlorine | Hardness | Standard |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SUW Filtry (central west) | 0 cfu — E.coli / coliforms not detected | <0.10 NTU typical (limit 1 NTU) | ~7.2–7.8 (limit 6.5–9.5) | Low residual at plant — chlorine added for network hygiene | ~13.5–16 °dH (medium) | Meets Polish / EU drinking-water rules |
| SUW Praga (east central) | 0 cfu — E.coli / coliforms not detected | <0.10 NTU typical (limit 1 NTU) | ~7.5–8.0 (limit 6.5–9.5) | Low residual at plant — network chlorination applies | ~13.5–16 °dH (medium) | Meets Polish / EU drinking-water rules |
| SUW Północ (northern Warsaw) | 0 cfu — per MPWiK monitoring | <0.10 NTU typical (limit 1 NTU) | ~7.2–7.8 (limit 6.5–9.5) | Chlorine dosed for network — taste varies by distance from plant | ~14–15.5 °dH (medium) | Meets Polish / EU drinking-water rules |
| Local stations — Wesoła | 0 cfu — monitored per station | Within national limits | Within 6.5–9.5 | Network-dependent | ~16–20 °dH (medium–hard) | Meets Polish / EU drinking-water rules |
| Local stations — Wawer | 0 cfu — monitored per station | Within national limits | Within 6.5–9.5 | Network-dependent | ~12–16 °dH (medium) | Meets Polish / EU drinking-water rules |
What each parameter means at your tap
- Microbiology — E.coli and coliform tests confirm network hygiene. Zero detections at the plant do not fix a dirty building tank.
- Turbidity — cloudiness from particles. Brown water after estate work is usually local pipe sediment, not plant failure.
- pH — slightly alkaline is normal. Metallic taste after an outage may be old galvanised branches in the building.
- Chlorine — residual disinfectant in the network. Carbon filters reduce taste; it is not a health failure sign.
- Hardness — mineral content (°dH). See hardness by plant and hardness by district.
